EPC Europe GmbH was founded in October 1990 as EPC Consulting GmbH by Mr. Erhard R. Pawelzik in Bad Homburg, Germany. In 2002, ownership and name changed to EPC Europe GmbH, headquartered in Hamburg.
The founder’s then already 40 years experience in the Chemical Industry, of which 16 years in various managerial assignments in the Far East encouraged him to venture into China-trade. The decision coincided with the opening and reform policy of the Deng Xiao Ping era. EPC Consulting was conceived as a trade services company rather than a trading company (which would have to compete with established traders and distributors in this field). Services rendered to a gradually increasing number of I/E companies and chemical distributors in Europe, Japan and the USA comprised the full spectrum of work to be done to secure orders for products from China on behalf of the buyers. EPC is initially made up of a small number of well trained, strongly focused trade service providers whose goal is to make partners feel secure, that they get the maximum benefit when working through EPC. For this reason, we have built up long-term contractual relationships with the companies operating in non-conflicting chemical areas who had entrusted EPC to work for them in China.
The spectrum of activities of EPC covers indeed a wide range: food-additives, nutritional supplements and natural herb extracts, animal feed-additives and veterinary medicines, pharmaceutical raw materials, dyestuffs for textiles, some organic and inorganic specialty chemicals and intermediates.
The activity started shifting to new horizons in 1998 when the new era of the Internet began. The internet opened the way to become a player in the now Global Knowledge Economy. EPC installed its own laboratory in Beijing, serving as our R&D center. Same year, a factory was built in Tianjin to produce Fine Chemicals which had a ready market in Europe. With time passing, EPC became a recognized leading knowledge provider in neutraceuticals and fine chemicals. EPC today provides its customers with the full integrated value chain: in depth trading sales- and after-sales service, quality control through our own lab, advisory service for technical and technological development and production-process technology.
In EPC’s now 19 years of existence, relationships with our business partners have gone from strength to strength. EPC’s first and foremost guiding principle, since the company’s inception in 1990, has been the provision of added value services – such as timely and relevant information on new products and new areas of business – to all of our customer partners. Being a leader in product development and the relevant advisory services has allowed EPC to stay at the forefront of progress in the industry. The company flourishes thanks to the support from its business partners domestic and abroad and the relentless efforts of its staff members, presently 80 in Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin.
